God’s Perfect Power

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

Do you feel like God is calling you to do something and you feel inadequate to do it. I feel this way all the time. You cannot accomplish what God calls you to do on your own strength, your own power or your own might. It’s because God calls you to do something and He will provide the way for you to do it. But, you need God’s power, God’s grace, God’s anointing to accomplish your task. God will call you to do a monumental task that you cannot accomplish without His power. The only way to accomplish this task is by having faith in God. Then you will bring glory to God. This will please God.

Stop being afraid to do what God is calling you to do; take a leap of faith and just do it. If you fall, know that God will catch you; if you step off the path, know that God will direct you back to the path. Your journey will not be free from obstacles, but with God you will have the victory. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

When you step out in faith and see God’s power working through you; you will see fabulous, wonderful and amazing things happen for the benefit of the Kingdom of God. You will see people’s lives changed. Just remember that God will part the sea to allow you to accomplish what He has called you to do; God will move mountains on your behalf. Just step out in faith and watch God work!

My understanding of the gift of giving

This mini-article is about my understanding, beliefs and feelings about the gift of giving, based on research, prayer and talking to God.

People with the gift of giving make it a mission to further God’s kingdom and His work. We understand that this gift is to be used to further God’s kingdom and bring glory to God. We listen to the direction of the Holy Spirit and give as directed. It’s not about the amount of the gift; it is about the attitude of the giver. God loves a cheerful giver, after all He is the most generous giver of all. This gift of giving is not about making the giver wealthy or about giving only if you’re wealthy. In fact, sometimes your are called to give sacrificially. It’s easy to give when you are wealthy, but it takes faith to give out of sacrifice. However, we are called to give from our blessings and in turn, God will bless us even more. Giving will not make you poor.

I feel like I am called to give to minority women who are small business owners. I feel like I am called to give to ministries that reach millions and to those who spread the gospel to millions of people. Right now, that is what I feel that the Holy Spirit is leading me to do. And, I am more than willing to obey.

The Spiritual Gift of Giving

The purpose of this mini-article is to give an overview of the spiritual gift of giving. The gift of giving is the divine strength or ability to produce wealth and to give for the purpose of advancing the Kingdom of God on earth.

Every Christian is supposed to give to further the Kingdom; however, not everyone has the gift of giving. When it comes to giving, the motive or the attitude is more important than the amount of the gift. God is looking at the giver’s heart. God loves a cheerful giver.

Every Christian, but especially, those with the gift of giving are called to be good stewards with their finances that God has provided.

While there are certain common characteristics that those with the gift of giving have; you as an individual should be unique when it comes to exercising your gift. We all have different temperaments, attitudes, backgrounds, perceptions and so when we exercise our gifts; it will not always look the same.

It has been said that some of those with the gift of giving have the ability to give beyond their means. But, I take it to mean that only those with this gift should be doing this (giving beyond their means at the direction of the Holy Spirit)—even though every Christian should give.

The right motive and the right attitude is imperative. The right motive is the key to giving and receiving. The right motive is the desire to further God’s kingdom and to help others. If you give to get; you don’t have the right motive.

When you fail to give with the right motive; you will not receive in return. For examples of what happens when you give with the wrong motive and what happens when you give with the right motive. See this article:

Do You Have the Spiritual Gift of Giving?

In conclusion, the most important point about the gift of giving is that the giver must give for the right reason. Again, the attitude and the motive are more important than the amount of the gift. Giving should be your reason for gaining wealth. Your giving should be directed by the Holy Spirit. When you have the gift of giving and are obedient with that gift, you will see your gift used to accomplish miracles and do wonders; it will change peoples lives.

How To Keep Your Focus on God

God wants a relationship with His followers. He walks with you daily and wants to talk with you daily. Oftentimes, the cares of the world and our busy lives crowd out our thoughts and our time so we don’t give our time to God like we should. But, when you give your time to God you get renewed, you get focus, you get wisdom and revelation, you understand your purpose, you get vision and you are guided by His will.

It is hard to always keep your focus on God day-to-day and be consistent and disciplined in your walk with the Lord. The purpose of this article is to help get your focus on God and keep your focus on God, when so many things are competing for our attention. Below are some ideas and actions that will you keep your focus on God.

Make sure you have the right mindset

  • Intentionally make a choice to put your focus on God; this will not only keep you close to God; but it will keep your mind off your circumstances.
  • Remember to thank God for what He has already done for you. This will put you in the right mindset to remember what God has already done and help give you faith that He will do so much more. Also, when you pray, believe that you have received it and thank God right now for the answer, before you see the manifestation. Because if you truly believe that you’ve already received the answer right now, then the time to thank God is right now.
  • Look at and evaluate your beliefs, do you trust God to meet all your needs, do you trust that God wants the best for you and only He knows what that is– do you trust in God’s promises, even when they don’t line up with what’s happening in your life at the moment—if not, you need to focus on learning how to trust God. You need to meditate on scripture, pray and ask God for wisdom. Ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find.
  • You need to spend time with God daily, pray and talk to Him, listen to Him, read the bible, sing songs of worship and praise, give God Glory, thank God.

Once you have the right mindset, you need to take action

  • Start you day with God and end your day with God. Engage in constant prayer. The bible tells us to pray without ceasing.
  • Have a prayer partner. This is something that I’ve never done. I’ve prayed with people over situations before, but I’m talking about a partner that you have to pray with every day, every week, whatever the time-table, a consistent partner that you have to keep each other lifted up in prayer and pray together constantly.
  • Obedience. Be obedient to the Lord, when God tells you to do something, it often looks impossible; it can be hard. But, that’s how you know that God will provide the way, that’s how you know He is directing your footsteps and giving you His power to accomplish whatever He has called you to do. God always provides the way. It takes faith to walk in the way God is directing you. Faith and obedience causes God to act on your behalf. Being obedient to God shows God that you trust in Him.
  • Another avenue that has been instrumental in my journey and keeping my focus on God is writing in a spiritual journal. I pray, talk, and listen to God. I write down my thoughts and what God tells me. This keeps me focused, it makes me remember things God has said and it shows you how far you’ve come in your spiritual journey, when you look back at some of your old journal entries. During these times, I’ve often received my biggest revelations from God. My spiritual gift is teaching and God has shown me that I’m to teach through writing, so I think it comes naturally to me to keep a journal and that’s why I get revelation through talking, listening and writing what God tells me. If you want to try keeping a journal to help keep your focus on God., follow this Facebook Group: Sassy Ann’s30 DayJournal Challenge; to get you in the habit of keeping a spiritual journal and communicating with God. https://www.facebook.com/groups/SAS30DayJournalChallenge/

Some other things to do to keep your focus on God

  • Go to church
  • Watch church program on television
  • listen to gospel music
  • meditate on scriptures
  • read spiritual articles – when I read articles or my own testimonies that I’ve written it causes me to remember my walk with the Lord

Every Believer has his/her methods of keeping his/her focus on God. Below are some other ways that my family and friends keep their focus on God:

  • Remembering that God is in control
  • Knowing that he has already worked out your situation
  • Waking up with an open heart and praising God
  • Listening to God daily, building a relationship with Him, writing in a journal, reading the bible and meditating, singing songs of praise
  • Keeping a spiritual regimen of praise/prayer/the word of God and service unto God
  • Keeping God in your heart always
  • Giving thanks to God no matter what the situation is; trying to be a better person than you were yesterday
  • Abiding in His word, remembering the precious gift of salvation, his blessings, and He is in control
  • read the bible every morning– ask for forgiveness of sins
  • find time to sit quietly and listen to God; continuous conversation with Him in the car, work, school or home.
  • By relying on His strength and not your flesh to keep your focus on God.

How To Receive The Wisdom of God

One can’t think of God’s wisdom without thinking of King Solomon. King Solomon asked God for wisdom instead of wealth. This pleased God, so God gave Solomon unsurpassed wisdom; but He also gave him wealth and honor and longevity.

What does it mean to have wisdom

Having the power to discern and judge properly the right thing to do; possessing discernment and judgment

Why should we desire to have wisdom

You should seek God’s wisdom if you want to live a life of righteousness, if you want discernment, a life that honors God, a life filled with joy and peace, a life of insight and power. Nothing compares to God’s wisdom.

Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding. Proverbs 3:131

He who gets wisdom loves life. Proverbs 19:8

Wisdom leads to righteousness and peace. Proverbs 8:20; Proverbs 3:17.

The fruits of wisdom are better than gold or silver. Proverbs 16:16; Proverbs 8:19.

Gaining wisdom gives you insight and power. Proverbs 8:14.

Wisdom is more precious than rubies, nothing compares to God’s wisdom. Proverbs 8:11.

The beginning of wisdom is this: Get Wisdom. Though it cost you all you have, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver! Proverbs 16:16

What are the fruits of Wisdom

Favor from the Lord Proverbs 8:35

Justice and righteousness Proverbs 8:20

A wise person is humble – when pride comes, then comes disgrace; but with the humble is wisdom. Proverbs 11:2

Wisdom is sound judgment and knowledge. Proverbs 8:12-14

Wisdom is more precious than rubies, nothing compares to God’s wisdom. Proverbs 8:11

Wisdom hates pride, arrogance and evil behavior. Proverbs 8:13

Gaining wisdom gives you insight and power. Proverbs 8:14

Wisdom brings riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity. Proverbs 8:18

The fruits of wisdom are better than gold or silver. Proverbs 16:16 and Proverbs 8:19

When you choose to glorify God, you will receive joy, peace and happiness. When you get wisdom you have good judgment and discernment. When you get God’s wisdom, you depend on God for everything.

How do we get God’s Wisdom

  • Get to know God by spending time in God’s word and with God in prayer.

Proverbs 9:10 states,

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding

To fear the Lord means to give honor to God, to respect Him, to submit to Him and to obey Him. Having awe toward the Lord is the first thing you need to do to gain God’s wisdom.

  • Desire and seek wisdom

You will find the knowledge of God and understand the fear of the Lord when you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure. Proverbs 2:4.

Desire and seek wisdom with a sincere and yearning heart.  When you seek wisdom, it will enter your heart and guide you unto righteousness.

  • Ask for wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5

Seek wisdom and you will find it.

No More Worry

Back in the day, I use to worry constantly about all kinds of things; things that I couldn’t control and things that I could control. In fact, I would lose sleep because I was worrying about something. I could be worrying about how this bill was going to get paid or anything, but I would be up in the middle of the night thinking and worrying. It was very frustrating; especially since, I didn’t see anyone else around me worrying about anything. My husband didn’t worry, even though the same issues that worried me, impacted him. My mom was never a worrier and she seemed to be stress free. I never understood where I got the worrying spirit from and why no one else seemed to worry about anything. It actually used to make me a little angry that I was up worrying and my husband was right next to me sleeping soundly. Actually, I was jealous. I wanted to learn not to worry.

Then, I discovered that God doesn’t want his children to worry. I learned that when you worry, you are actually doubting God and the promises that He has made. So I learned to give my cares and worries to God and let go of the fear and doubt. How did I do this? By meditating on scripture, praying and listening to God.

I learned to receive God’s peace

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7

God is telling us not to worry about anything, but in everything, to present all your cares, requests, and worries to God, in prayer. This is a powerful truth. When you present your requests to the Lord, you need to be thankful. Thankful for what God has already brought you through and thankful for what God is going to bring you through. When this became a reality for me, peace overcame me and worry left. Not just any peace, but God’s peace. God’s peace showed me that God was in control and He promised to supply all my needs according to His riches in glory!!

And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

I learned to Seek First The Kingdom of God

I meditated on Jesus words in Matthew 6:25-34.

Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

I typed these scriptures in a document and I printed out the document and read it, meditated on it, and confessed it out loud daily until they were planted in my spirit and became real to me. The promises of God became more real than anything I was worrying about. Then, I started living a life of no more worry.

Obviously, there are situations that arise daily that can cause worry and stress. But, instead of worrying, I cast my cares upon the Lord, and I don’t worry about it.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1Peter 5:7

Jesus tells us not to worry. Jesus tells us that worrying does not benefit us, but hinders us and distracts us from where our focus and energies should really be, which is on the Kingdom of God.

When we keep our focus on the Kingdom of God, everything else will fall into place.

Seek First The Kingdom of God

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Matthew 6:33

Jesus tells us that we are to seek first the kingdom of God. This means we are to keep our focus on God and spiritual things. We are to be obedient to God and serve His plan first above our own desires or worldly desires. We are not to put our energy into worldly matters before we give God our energy. Jesus tells us that when we seek the kingdom of God first, then God takes care of us. God must be first in our lives.

When we put God first in our lives, other things fall into place. When I’m not putting God first, I can’t seem to get things done like I should. I get overwhelmed with the amount of work that I have to accomplish and I get stressed out. When I give my time to God first, and I put my time, energy and effort into being obedient to God and seeking His will, I become far more productive and I get much more accomplished with God’s wisdom. When I put God first, I start crossing things off my “to-do” list.

I have often wondered how I am to accomplish the things that I have been called to do. When I’m obedient to God, when I seek His wisdom and His revelation and His will, I get wisdom on how to be more productive. I get wisdom on how to accomplish the things He has called me to do. God doesn’t give you a vision without giving you provision.

If you lack peace, if you are overwhelmed, if you are stressed out, if you are worried about worldly concerns, then seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will fall into place.

For Nothing Is Impossible With God

The angel Gabriel appeared to the virgin Mary and revealed to her that she was highly favored by the Lord. She was told that she would have a son and to name her son Jesus. Gabriel revealed that Jesus would be called great and that he would be called the Son of the Highest.

When Mary asked, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? The angel responded that the Holy Ghost would come upon her and the power of the Highest would overshadow her. The angel stated, Nothing was impossible with God.1 Luke 1:34-38. KJV

Things that are impossible for man are possible with God’s power and strength. The Bible is filled with miracles and signs and wonders that are not possible with human strength. But, with God’s supernatural power, all things are possible.

When God calls you to do something, He gives you the power to do it. He gives you the grace to do it, and He gives you the wisdom to do it.

This scripture should make you believe, it should give you faith, it should give you knowledge. Knowledge that you can do all things with God. With God, all things are possible for His glory.

All things are possible to him that believeth

In order for the supernatural to work in your life, you must believe. You must believe in God’s power and God’s strength.

When God puts His supernatural with our natural, miracles happen. In order for God to use us for His purposes, we must have faith and we must believe. Whatever God is calling you to do, take a step of faith and believe that God will provide a way when there is no way. When one door closes, God opens another door. God provides an opportunity where there was none. Nothing is impossible for God, all things are possible to him that believeth.

In Mark 9:17-24, the Bible shows us that when we ask God to act on our behalf we must believe and have faith that He will do what we ask. When we believe, God answers our call. However, God will do not do things that are against His will or not in line with His word.2

If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. Mark 9:23

1 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

For with God nothing shall be impossible.

And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

2And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit;

And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not.

He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me.

And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming.

And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child.

And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us.

Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Mark 9: 17-24 KJV

It’s A Matter of Life or Death

In Deuteronomy, Moses prepares the Israelites for the entrance into Canaan. Moses reminded the nation of Israel of their Covenant with God. Moses gives a speech to the Isrealites that spells out what will happen if the Isrealites obeyed the commands of God and what would would happen if they disobeyed God. This list of blessings and curses is in Deuteronomy 28.

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live. Deuteronomy 30:19

God gives us the right to choose. God wants His creation to choose life and blessings. The way to do this is through Jesus Christ. However, God doesn’t force His creation to choose Him. He leaves that choice to us. But, He also warns what will happen if we fail to make the right choice. We can choose between life and death or blessings and curses. God tells us what choice to make and what will happen if we don’t make that choice. God says, “Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” That means, if we don’t choose life, then we choose death. If we choose not to follow Jesus, then the consequence is death.

However, when we choose to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then the blessing is eternal life.

Deuteronomy makes it clear that when we obey God, we reap the many blessings that God has in store for us. It also makes it crystal clear that when we disobey God, there are many curses in store for us. However, the lesson of Deuteronomy extends beyond blessings and curses in this life on Earth. But, the lesson to be learned also is that God’s way not only leads to blessings on Earth, but eternal life in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Now Choose Life!
